The 4 R Kids Early Childhood Iowa Area Board is charged with developing a comprehensive community plan for providing services for children from zero through age five.
In January 2011, the 4 R Kids Early Childhood Iowa Area Board submitted a community plan to Early Childhood Iowa as part of the four board merger process. The community plan was then updated for the Levels of Excellence process June 2013 and was updated again effective September 10, 2020. The community plan will be updated every five years, or as necessary to meet the goals of the 4 R Kids Early Childhood Iowa Area Board.
The 4 R Kids Early Childhood Iowa Area Board community plan is a living breathing document that guides the work of the Board and community. The plan is written so that an “outsider” can understand the early care care, health and education system that exisits for children ages prenatal through 5 years and their families within Adair, Dallas, Madison, and Warren County. Many community stakeholders were involved in the planning process which is evidenced in the community plan document. The community plan is also intended to be utilized by the community for other planning initiatives and grant writing as well as a teaching tool about early childhood in the four county area.
