ECI Board Designation

Designation

In order for to receive ECI funds, the ECI State Board must designate an ECI area board.

Iowa Code 256I.4(8) states that the Early Chilhdood Iowa state Board is to develop and implement a designation process for area boards.  It is to allow for flexibility and creativity of area ECI boards in implementing area board responsibilities and provide authority for the area boards to support the communities in the areas served. The system provides for action to address poor performing areas as well as higher performing areas. The state ECI board determines how often area boards are reviewed under the system.

The 4 R Kids ECI area board is required to go through the Designation process every four years.  For more information regarding ECI designation there is a document that provides an overview of general policies associated with board designation on the state ECI website called Tool N.

The 4 R Kids ECI area board went through the desgination process 12/17/20 and the 4 R Kids ECI area board was designated and approved by the Early Childhood Iowa state board April 2, 2021 which is effective July 1, 2021.   4 R Kids 2020 Designation Visit Summary.
